|Department of Neurological Diseases |
Until 1990-91, neurology and psychiatry formed a single department, headed by the late Dr. Gholam Ali Arabshahi and later by Dr. Farrokh and Dr. Haerian. The incumbent head, Dr. Etemadi, has been serving in this capacity since 1995. Neurology was separated from Psychiatry in 2000-2001 and continues as an independent department. A lot of changes have since taken place and many units - including Emergency, ICU and stroke - have been added to the department, as well as a Nerve and Muscle Laboratory to examine genetic muscle disorders. Expansion of Neurology Ward (up to 40 beds) is part of department’s development plan.
